The Artist Behind Willow Tree: Susan Lordi

Image
The popular line of Willow Tree fine art figurative sculptures was introduced in January of 2000. The first collection included one figurine, 15 angels, and the nativity set . In the 18 years since Artist Susan Lordi has continued to craft the beautiful figurines that speak for us when words aren’t enough. Susan received a Master of Fine Arts with honors from the University of Kansas in 1993 and previously taught textile art and design at the university level. When she began her work on Willow Tree, it was her first time stepping away from personalized sculpture creation to designing for the commercial gift industry. Despite the mass market production of her work, it was very important that her sculptures speak to the unique relationship between the giver and receiver. She wanted her figurative sculptures to celebrate pure form art, in which there are no extraneous details, encouraging her work to be interpreted by the individuals attached to the pieces. Celebrate New Life with Figurines from Willow Tree

Welcome the newest member of your family with sculptural figures from Willow Tree that speak for you when words are inadequate. Their figurines freeze the early moments of parenthood in time and celebrate the unexplainable bond that exists between a newborn and their parents, making them perfect memorable gifts.  For Always Featuring sculptural art that beautifully expresses love, closeness, healing, courage, and hope, Willow Tree captures the memory of a moment in still life. For Always represents the relationship between mother and child, and displays a mother lovingly embracing her little one. You can gather from the pose that they only exist for each other in this moment; the new baby is this mother’s whole world. In artist Susan Lordi’s own words “I wanted this pose to evoke a feeling of being completely in the present with your child—the weight, the scent, the feel... sharing with each other the silent vow that you will be there for always.” New dad Fre
